Interview to Master Nguyen Van Chieu

Vovinam.- You just celebrated your 60th birthday with a big party, so, with would like to congratulate you on a first place, and the would like to know what is your feeling when your gather with so many Vovinam Vietvodao's friend at that age?.- 

Master Nguyen Van Chieu.- Than you very much for your wishes. On the occasion of my 60th birthday organized by my disciples of the 8th district, just after the en of the 3rd Asian Indoor Games, there were a lot of Vovinam athletes who came from Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, India, as well as many Vietnamese master and practitionners. My family and I felt very happy, delighted and moved with all love people brought to us. This illustrates our Vietnamese saying that goes: "the feelings within the Vovinam movement live for ever!".

V.- Next November 2010, the Spanish National Vovinam Vietvodao Association will organize the European Championships, as was done in 2004. Do you believe in the massive participation in this event and, furthermore, do you think that the Organisation could be at the same high level as in 2004?.- 

NVC.- Looking at the current fantastic development of Vovinam, I think that the European Championship, which will be held by the Spanish Association in November 2010, will attract very many participants from Europe and we can expect a high technical level.

I trust that the committee will organize an even more successful event than in 2004, as they will build on their previous experience in hosting an international competition.

V.- What do you think about the development of Vovinam realised by Master Patrick Levet in Spain, as well as the following work of his students?.- 

NVC.- Master Patrick Levet is someone who has a strong and sincere commitment within Vovinam Vietvodao. He also has much experience and a strong ability to develop our movement. I strongly believe and hope that the Spanish Vovinam disciples will follow his path and continue develop Vovinam even futher.

V.- The Spanish National Vovinam Vietvodao Association is working on progress to invite you to direct an International Seminar in Tenerife (Spain) at the same period. Are exited about those days again in Tenerife?.-

NVC.- I hope I will soon have the opportunity to go again to Tenerife and join in Vovinam's activities there, especially because all the Spanish Vovinam practitioners are so nice and hospitable; I also love the landscape there. Moreover, the Vovinam movement progresses very well in Spain.

V.- Do you know the dates and place of the next Vovinam World Championships?.-

NVC.- As of yet, there is no official announcement as to which country will host the next World Championship. However, India and Russia have shown interest in organizing the event.

V.- What do you think about the realisation of such an electronic Vovinam magazine by the Spanish National Vovinam Vietvodao Association?.-

NVC.- I applaud the release of the electronic Vovinam Magazine by the Spanish Vovinam Association. It is a fantastic means to tell about our Vovinam activities more broadly to everyone, as well as share training tips and your experience in developing Vovinam.

I wish lots of success to the electronic Vovinam Magazine and hope it will attract and interest more and more people everyday.
